Tiers With Peers

Tiers With Peers is an iMessage app for making tier lists with a group chat. You create a list and send it to the chat, and everyone in the chat can rank the items.

We usually reply within a few days.

If your question is about one list, tell us its title and about when it was last shared. A screenshot helps. If you have the list's iMessage link, include it: the link contains the ID that identifies the list.

Report a list or an item

You can report anything in a shared list from inside the app. You do not need an account.

Pick the reason that fits, then tap REPORT. We review every report and act on it promptly. Content that breaks the community guidelines is removed for everyone in the chat.

For anything urgent, or anything the in-app report does not fit, email petergardiner25@gmail.com.

To block a person, use the block feature in Messages. It stops everything that person sends you, not only tier lists.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start a tier list?

  1. Open a chat in Messages and tap the apps button next to the text field. Choose Tiers With Peers.
  2. Tap + CREATE.
  3. Type what you are ranking, then tap CREATE TIER LIST.
  4. Tap + ADD to add items, then drag each item into a tier.
  5. Tap SHARE. The list goes into the message field. Tap the send arrow in Messages to send it.

How do my friends change the list?

Anyone in the chat can tap the list in the conversation, add and move items, and tap SHARE. Changes reach the rest of the chat only when someone taps SHARE and sends the message. The app does not send changes on its own.

How does Solo Rank work?

In Solo Rank, everyone in the chat ranks the same items on their own, and then you compare.

  1. Tap + CREATE, choose SOLO, and tap CREATE SOLO RANK.
  2. Add the items, then tap SHARE and send the message. After that, nobody can add, rename or remove items.
  3. Each person taps the message, puts every item in a tier, and taps LOCK IN. Until then, nobody else sees where they put anything.

To see the results, tap the count beside LOCK IN, or RESULTS in the drawer. You can look before you rank. The results update while you watch.

A ranking is final once it is locked in, and everyone in the chat can see it. The message shows how many people have ranked. A Solo Rank list is deleted 30 days after it was first shared, unless you have Custom Tiers.

Why did my list disappear?

A free list is deleted 30 days after it was last shared. Each time someone taps SHARE and sends it, the 30 days start again. Opening a list does not reset the count. When a list is gone, the app shows “This tier list may have expired or been deleted.”

Lists that you share after you buy Custom Tiers are not deleted.

What does Custom Tiers unlock?

Custom Tiers is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It lets you:

You buy it in the Tiers With Peers app on your home screen. The purchase screen shows the price.

The purchase screen says the App Store isn't available

The app shows this message when it cannot get Custom Tiers from the App Store, and the purchase button stays grey. Tap RETRY under the message. If the message asks you to check your connection, connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data. Then tap RETRY again. Also open the App Store app and check that you are signed in. If the message does not go away, email us.

How do I get Custom Tiers back on a new iPhone?

Open the Tiers With Peers app, tap the gear at the top right, then tap RESTORE PURCHASES. You can also tap RESTORE on the purchase screen. Use the Apple ID that you bought it with. The app tells you if it finds no purchase for that Apple ID. If the features are still locked after a restore, email us.

Why was a name refused?

The app checks the names you type against a word filter: the list title, tier names, item names, and your display name. When the filter refuses a name, the app does not save it and shows a message such as “THAT NAME ISN'T ALLOWED · TRY ANOTHER”. Type a different name to continue. If you think the filter refused an ordinary word by mistake, email us the word so we can fix the filter.

I closed the app before I shared my list. Is it gone?

No. The app keeps one unshared list as a draft. Open Tiers With Peers in Messages and tap RESUME under RESUME DRAFT. If a draft is saved, + CREATE asks before it deletes the draft, and offers to resume it instead.

Changes to a list that was already shared are kept too. Open the list again from its message in the chat. The app puts your changes back, together with any changes other people made in the meantime, and shows “UNSENT CHANGES RESTORED”. Tap SHARE to send them.

How do I remove or delete a list?

Lists you shared appear under START FROM in the app drawer. To remove one from your iPhone, press and hold it and tap Remove From My Lists. This affects your device only. Everyone else in the chat keeps it.

A list someone sent you is a message in the chat. To remove it from your iPhone, delete the message in Messages.

The app cannot delete a list for everyone. To have a list and its photos deleted from our servers, email us. Include the list's title and a screenshot, and the iMessage link if you have it.

Do I need an account?

No. The app signs in anonymously and never asks for your email address or phone number. Your display name is optional, and other people see it only in a list's history. The privacy policy says what the app stores.
